20/20 vision for 1 billion by the year 2020

Atomic physicist Joshua Silver invented liquid-filled optical lenses to produce low-cost, adjustable glasses, giving sight to millions without access to an optometrist.

This is an amazing vision for someone to have….

Let me introduce you to the man himself.  His name is Josh Silver and he’s going to delivers his brilliantly simple solution for correcting vision at the lowest cost possible — adjustable, liquid-filled lenses.

More than 30,000 of his lenses have been distributed in 15 countries, and a new model will scale that number up to millions.

Pushing the Limits with Viral Marketing! Institute for Human Continuity & Sony’s 2012 Movie

If you haven’t seen or heard of it yet keep yours eyes open for an organization calling itself the The Institute for Human Continuity (The IHC), “they” are airing commercials stating the world will come to an end on December 12th 2012 (12, 12, 12,) which is the end of the Mayan Calender.   This Group, The IHC say they were established in 1978 by leading businessman, scientist and countries across the world to help prepare for 2012 and the Post 1212 World.  They say they finally decided to go public this year and run a lottery for people across the world to sign up and  get a space in their bunkers they’ve established all over the world.   You have to give your information and all your families information as well and you can also run for leader of this post 2012 world.

If you haven’t check out the website check it out.  It’s amazing, it has to be one of the best websites I’ve ever seen, it’s very well done.

But here’s the kicker… I did a WhoIs search to find out who owns the domain (aka website)…. and It’s owned by Sony Pictures… So Sony Pictures owns the Institute of Human Continuity.org

It’s kind of funny how they have a film called 2012 that was supposed to come out November of 2009 but they postponed the launch a full year?

This is amazing viral marketing… I don’t know how ethical it is… but my goodness, they taken things to another level!

Sustainable Living
Leadership Program

Live • Learn • Lead

Experience the Fraser River
“The World’s Greatest Salmon River”

August 6th to 30th, 2009

Follow this year’s trip down the Fraser on Granville Online.

Journey by canoe, raft and on foot 1,400 km down the Fraser River from Mount Robson to the Pacific Ocean. Participants take in breathtaking scenery along the way, from ancient rainforests to grasslands, sage brush and floodplain.

The program covers key sustainability concepts such as food security, voluntary simplicity, stewardship and green economics. Students learn how to lower their ecological footprint and design a project to take back to their community or stewardship group.

Geared to those interested in fisheries, environmental education, outdoor adventure tourism or project planning, the SLLP includes team building exercises, conflict resolution, communication skills and critical thinking. Camping along the banks of the Fraser, students study the fauna and flora, watersheds, ecosystems, the water cycle, resource management and what a truly sustainable fishery would look like. They meet with the RSBC’s extensive network of First Nation and Non-Native Fraser River community stewards as they pass through their communities.

Text Messaging while Driving

So recently I watched a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Text Messaging while driving.

I think naturally any organization that has a company vehicle should put this into a written policy that clearly states employees should never text or email while driving.

It seems like common sense but I heard the statistic that 45’000 people die from this a year?  This just seems completely absurd to me.

In the United States they have already banned texting while driving in many states.  Canada on the other hand is very far behind and we don’t have a single Province or Territory passing any sort of legislation on this matter.

Language (Documentary Called 35)

1st place competition winner in 2008 for age group 18-25

Length: 22 min, 06 seconds

Created by: 19 Year Old Raj Singh from Boerne, TexasUnited States

In celebration of 300 years of our Guru Granth Sahib, I wanted to create a documentary portraying the importance of our Gurmukhi script as well as the language of the Guru Granth Sahib, Gurbani.

My intention of making this documentary was to motivate my brothers and sisters to make a conscious effort to understand Gurbani and the first step to doing that is by reading Gurmukhi.

– Raj Singh

“The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster. “

– Milan Hubl, quoted by Milan Kundera in ‘The Book of Laughter and Forgetting’

Water Filter (Turns filthy Water Drinkable)

I hope this guy doesn’t sell out and he actually uses the technology for good.   I hope this isn’t a case of selling to the highest bidder which would probably create wars instead… I hope this guy starts a social enterprise out of this instead of a for profit business, and a “foundation.”

What is LIFESAVER bottle?
LIFESAVER bottle is the world’s first all in one ultra filtration water bottle. It will remove bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi and all other microbiological waterborne pathogens without using chemicals like iodine or chlorine which leave a distinctive foul taste. LIFESAVER bottle produces filtered sterile drinking water quickly and easily. It incorporates LIFESAVER systems’ unique FAILSAFE technology (another world first) which shuts off the bottle’s cartridge upon expiry, preventing contaminated water from being drunk.
With LIFESAVER bottle there is no need for tablets, boiling, chemicals, tubes, shaking, scrubbing, waiting or effort. LIFESAVER bottle produces clean, sterile drinking water with no foul taste – fast!

With cutting-edge nanotech, Michael Pritchard’s Lifesaver water-purification bottle could revolutionize water-delivery systems in disaster-stricken areas around the globe.

The Last Lecture (Professor Randy Pausch)

This was an interesting speech to listen too…

It was by Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 – July 25, 2008).  He gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.
